Santorini
Santorini, also known as Thira, is an island in the Cyclades, located in the southern Aegean Sea. Santorini is a rocky island with villages built on the caldera and the cliffs of the volcano. It is world-famous for its dramatic beauty and for being the only inhabited caldera in the world.
The island’s capital, Fira, is built on the caldera, along with other equally stunning settlements such as Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Oia. Other charming villages include Pyrgos, Megalochori, Akrotiri, Mesaria, Karterados, and Emporio.
Santorini’s beaches are very different from those typically found in the Cyclades. They feature black and red sand, along with imposing rock formations. The most famous ones are the Red Beach, White Beach, Perivolos, Kamari, Monolithos, Vlychada, and Perissa.
