Crete

Crete is the largest island of Greece, at the southern end of the Aegean Sea and is bordered to the north by the Cretan Sea and to the south by the Libyan Sea. Crete consists of four prefectures, Heraklion, which is also the capital, Chania, Rethymno and Lasithi.

The island is famous for its world-renowned cuisine, for its archaeological attractions such as the palace of Knossos and natural attractions such as the Samaria Gorge, the Cedar Forest and the Vai Palm Forest.

The island is large and the distances are far, so the options for beaches are truly countless. We typically mention Preveli, Elafonisi, Gramvousa, Falasarna, Agios Pavlos and Matala.
